WHY WILDERNESS
Palms – Wilderness is well situated to accommodate guests visiting the Garden Route. We are a mere 5 minute walk from the beautiful unspoilt beaches of Wilderness or the boardwalk along the lake.
For a closer look at the beauty of Wilderness and what the surrounds have to offer, don your hiking boots and head off with a well packed picnic and enjoy a day canoeing up the Touw River, hike to the waterfall or hike one of the several hikes through breathtaking indigenous forests within the 2500ha Wilderness National Park. A birders paradise.
Take a day drive to Knysna & Plettenberg Bay. Hike the Robberg Reserve along the cliffs of the Robberg Mountain (not for the faint-hearted though!!) or visit Monkey Land, Elephant Sanctuary or Birds of Eden.
Do a game drive at the Rhino Base Camp – viewing wild life from an open landrover with a qualified guide.
Stop off at “the Big Tree” in the Millwood Forest, take the ferry to Featherbed reserve, or do some dolphin and whale watching.
Play golf at any of the world renowned golf courses within driving distance from the Palms. George Country Club, Fancourt, Oubaai, Knysna Golf Club, Pezula Championship Course, Plettenberg Bay Country Club or Simola Country Club.
Take a steam train ride to Mosselbay or take a trip on the “power-van” up the Outeniqua Mountains. Unfortunately the track to Knysna has been damaged and current the tjoo-choo is not running in that direction.
For the more adventurous you can do some paragliding or bungee jumping!
The real bonus of staying at the Palms – Wilderness is that we are in close proximity to the most spectacular mountain ranges, scenery and off the beaten track areas. Being keen motor bikers (BMW 1200GS) – Wayne will assist you in renting a bike and exploring the area. Join us for specialized “biking” week ends. See information...
